Lotem 800 II Quantum V for Positive Thermal Plates
Overview
Background
Creos positive thermal plates (PTP) have a low sensitivity and therefore they
cannot utilize the full speed of a Lotem® 800 II Quantum V
platesetter.
Customers wishing to use PTP must either buy an S or F speed platesetter.
Creo is introducing the Lotem 800 II Quantum V for PTP platesetter so that
customers can use PTP on a V-speed platesetter.
What is the Lotem 800 II Quantum V for PTP?
The Lotem 800 II Quantum V for PTP platesetter is equivalent to a standard
Lotem 800 II Quantum platesetter, except that the former is equipped with a
thermal head 2.5 (TH2.5).
Manufacturing capacity is five TH2.5 comnponents per month (including spares).
TH2.5 is capable of delivering a maximum power of 23 Watts (compared to
the TH2s 18.5 Watts). Note: The
TH2.5 will be damaged if the power exceeds 23 watts.
TH2.5 will only work with PTP. It will not work with any other media.
TH2.5 uses a 50 watt diode (compared to the TH2s 40 Watt diode).
TH2.5 has two types of head: 2540 dpi and 2400 dpi.
At present only the P22 is available. The P33 is unavailable.
Early Production (EP) Checklist
Product specification
The specifications for the Lotem Quantum V for PTP are almost identical
to that of a standard Lotem 800 II Quantum.
(Exceptions: Maximum throughput is 25 plates per hour (pph), Staccato®
10 is in beta. A formal beta will be organized for those customers who wish
to purchase Staccato 10.)
New product will be added to the Media Calculator.
Service delivery methodology
Almost identical to the standard Lotem 800 II Quantum.
Spare head policy plan From the first platesetter installed until the sixth platesetter installed:
CCA will have one spare head per resolution (initially two heads from the
first installation and then an additional two heads when the second resolution
is installed).
From the seventh platesetter installed:
At this stage (at least two months after the first installation ~end
of July), there will be more information on the platesetter/head reliability
to reevaluate the spare head policy plan.
Tracking reliability
CSC PSMs will communicate with the local engineers, site owners and RC personnel
to collate all the TH2.5 information related to site visits and service calls.
Yaron Soffer will be responsible for distributing the head information to
CIL
Russ Cork will be responsible for distributing the head information to CCA
Escalation process will be the same as the current process that exists for
the Lotem 800
Media switch policy
Device is only qualified for PTP.
Sales will be approved only when a 3 year plate contract has been signed.
If a case arises in which a customer wishes to switch to another media, Creo
will set up the new media with the TH2.5. However, when the next head replacement
occurs, the TH2.5 will be replaced with a TH2.
