Type II Mainframe (Chassis)

An improved mainframe or chassis has been developed for the platesetter. This latest mainframe, referred to as the Type II mainframe, is more functional than its predecessor (Type I mainframe) and contains greater service access.

Note: To visibly distinguish between the two types of mainframe, see Distinguishing between Type I and Type II mainframes.

This page describes the improvements made on the Type II mainframe:

E-Box
New SBC 786 board.
Keyboard/mouse Y splitter cable
(p/n 609-00281)
Only one keyboard extension cable (p/n: 199D20220) is connected to the 800 II accessory kit. Connect one end of the cable to the SBC and the other end to the Y splitter cable.
TMCE Board
Moved to the right door to allow better service and replacement access. A screw from the Type II mainframe's body closes the TMCE door.
Note: After you open/close the TMCE door, make sure that all the wiring is in place to avoid circuit shorting and damages.
CA Board
Moved to the right door to allow better service and replacement access. The CA board is the smaller board above the TMCE board.
Power Fail Protector Board Assembly
When power surges occur, the power fail protector board assembly maintains the platesetter in OFF status until the On/Off pushbutton is toggled.
