Lotem Spectrum - Checking and Adjusting the drum vacuum analog detector

Description
Unique to the Lotem Spectrum, the proofing media is held to the drum with vacuum alone (and without grippers). The Drum Vacuum Analog Detector, also unique to Spectrum machines, measures the vacuum pressure on the drum during loading with the Carrier, with the Receiver and with the Donor. It is important to set the correct value to prevent the media from flying off during exposure.

Loading the Carrier
The Carrier loading sequence is similar to the plate loading sequence. When the Carrier is wrapped on the drum, the Drum Vacuum Pressure
should be in the range of ~-250 - -470.

Proofing Media - Receiver & Donor
The proofing media - Receiver and Donor - are loaded on top of the Carrier and are held by vacuum only. You must set a minimum Drum Vacuum Value prior to loading the media, and during exposure.

Drum Vacuum Pressure Checks for Proof Media

When to check

What to check

Duration of check

Loading

Carrier

1.When Carrier is completely wrapped on drum

2.When Receiver is attached to Proof Loading Bar

Value is within the drum vacuum pressure range defined in the registry for Carrier on drum.

1.Maximum 30 seconds, polling every (1) second

2.One second

Receiver

When Donor is attached to Proof Loading Bar

Value is equal to or greater than the minimum Drum Vacuum Pressure defined in the registry for Receiver on drum.

One second

Donor

When Donor is completely wrapped on drum

Value is equal to or greater than the minimum Drum Vacuum Pressure defined in the registry for Donor on drum.

Maximum 30 seconds, polling every (1) second

Unloading

Receiver

1.Before detaching receiver with the Proof Unload Arm from the drum

2.After shutting off drum vacuum

Value is below the maximum Drum Vacuum Pressure defined in the registry for receiver unload

Maximum 30 seconds, polling every (1) second
