Calibrating the Carriage Home Position (HP) Detector on Lotem Quantum

Product

  • Lotem™ 800 Quantum
  • Lotem 850 Quantum
  • Lotem 400 Quantum
  • Lotem Quantum Spectrum
  • Lotem 800 II Family

Procedure

  1. From the Lotem PC Controller, select the Hardware menu; then under the Expose system / carriage system option, open the following windows:
    • Carriage End Pos Detector
    • Carriage Home Pos Detector
    • Carriage motor
  2. Insert the following two cheaters:
    • Motor Interlock Defeater
    • Laser Focus Defeater
  3. From Splot, perform Quantum>>carriage init, and ensure the carriage moves on the leading screw to the left end of the drum.
  4. Release the Motor Interlock Defeater; then manually turn the leading screw until the red beam from the head's laser projects directly onto the middle of the Degrees ruler that runs along the circumference of the drum. It should be approximately 6 mm from the left end of the drum.
  5. From this position, release the HP Detector flag screws on the head; then align the head so that the HP Detector changes to ON exactly at the end of the flag. Manually turn the leading screw until the HP flag is outside the range of the HP Detector (and the status of the HP Detector is OFF).
  6. Move the carriage to Home Position again by performing Quantum>>carriage init; then ensure that the red laser beam projects onto the Degrees ruler at the end of the drum.
Remember that the carriage's 0 position is exactly 1 mm to the right of the HP Detector, and the status of the HP Detector is OFF.
  7. Disconnect the Motor Interlock Defeater cheater. Manually turn the leading screw until the carriage runs into the mechanical barrier. From this position, ensure that the red beam projects at least 2 mm on the drum. Then, manually turn the leading screw until the flag is outside the range of the HP Detector, and the status of the HP Detector is OFF.
  8. From the Lotem PC Controller, move the carriage to position 1147 mm.
For Lotem 400 Quantum, move the carriage to position 810 mm.
  9. Ensure that the red laser beam projects on the drum, and that the mechanical barrier does not run into the bearing's housing.
  10. Disconnect the Motor Interlock Defeater cheater; then manually turn the leading screw until the carriage runs into the mechanical barrier. Ensure that the red beam projects at least 2 mm on the drum.
  11. Manually turn the leading screw until the flag is outside the range of the HP Detector (and the status of the Carriage End Pos Detector is OFF).
  12. From the Lotem PC Controller, perform Quantum>>carriage init.
