Description When a job fail & you want to re-submit it, there are several actions
need to take.
Today with the current PC controller version (beta 4 & 3.50.07), there's
an issue with the drum vacuum pump.
The current situation is as follows:
Every 5 seconds, the software checks the following:
Is the loading system not active?
Is the unloading system (including the drum) not active?
Is a certain timeout had been reached since the end of last loading/unloading
related task? For
a non Spectrum Lotem machine, the timeout is 30 seconds. For Spectrum machines,
the
timeout is 5 minutes.
Is there no plate/donor/receiver on the drum?
Only if all these four conditions are met, then the drum vacuum pump
is turned off.
The possible cases are:
Successful plate expose with unload requested: 30 seconds after
the plate is fully unloaded
from the drum, the drum vacuum is automatically shut off.
Successful plate expose without unload requested: The software will
not attempt to shut off the drum vacuum, and in theory it can continue to
work forever.
Failed plate expose with unload requested: If the unload process
started, the drum vacuum will be shut off 30 seconds after the unloading process
terminated, successfully or not. If the unload process did not start (for
example, machine was emergency stopped during the expose), then the software
will not attempt to shut off the drum vacuum.
Failed plate expose without unload requested: The software will not
attempt to shut off the drum vacuum, and in theory it can continue to work
forever.
Successful proof expose (there is always unload): 5 minutes after
the receiver is fully unloaded from the drum, the drum vacuum is shut off.
Failed proof expose (there is always unload): The 5 minutes timeout
starts "ticking" right after the end of the failed unload attempt:
If the donor unload failed, the drum vacuum will be shut down
automatically at the end of the timeout only if the user pressed
the "Restart Plate State" button (an operation that is very
probable in order to reset the loading system status). The idea here is
that after an unload failure, the user opens the machine door(s) and resets
the media (in order to resubmit it) and then resets the software to acknowledge
her changes. So we give her 5 minutes in order to complete this reset
of both physical and logical status.
If the receiver unload fails, the drum vacuum will be shut off
automatically after five minutes.
The current software behavior for a failed proof unload can cause a shut off
of the drum vacuum as soon as the "Restart Plate State" button is
pressed, if the user started dealing with the machine only a long time after
the unload failure occurred.
Solution will be in the next PC controller version, 3.7.
