Drum velocity error exceeded

Product

Lotem® 800 Quantum

Error

Occasionally during a routine drum operation, Lotem Controller displays the following messages:

  • Drum velocity error exceeded.
  • Drum failed to reach position.

Symptoms

The following symptoms accompany the two error messages:

  • Power on green LED on the drum driver either turns off and/or it flashes intermittently
  • Inhibit red LED turns off
  • 15V power supply only outputs 14V

Cause

The source of the problem can be traced to the 15V power supply. When it only outputs 14V, it exceeeds the acceptable +/- 5% tolerance.
During the drum movement, the drum driver detects the low voltage and turns itself off.
The TMCE detects that the drum is not tracking the specified velocity (or position profile) and sends an inhibit signal to the driver, which causes Lotem Controller to generate a drum related error message.

Solution

Replace the drum driver.
