Preventing MCE boards from being stuck in boot mode when upgrading to Lotem 800 Controller software 3.82

Product

  • Kodak® Lotem® 800 Quantum platesetter
  • Kodak Lotem 800 II platesetter

Symptoms

When upgrading Lotem 800 Controller software to version 3.82, the MCE board becomes stuck in boot mode.

Cause

The firmware has been loaded in the wrong sequence.

Solution

  1. Locate the C:\ServiceShell\Scripts\Device\FirmwareUpgrade.pdf document.
  2. Inside the document, refer to the section MCE Boot Code upgrade procedure when Main Firmware in not Loading, and follow the steps taken to resolve the problem.

Important: To prevent this issue from reoccurring during future upgrades to Lotem 800 Controller 3.82 software, perform either one of the following options:

Option 1:
Use the FirmwareUpgrade script to individually load the firmware in the following sequence:

  1. Boot code: 1.16.01 (MCEBOOT11601.bin)
  2. Post code: 1.06 (MCEPOST106.bin)
  3. Main code: 1.38 (L800FMWbcmp138.bin)
  4. Xilinx code: 2.28 (MCELCA0228.bin)

Option 2:
In the FirmwareUpgrade script, when prompted to select the firmware to load, select all the firmware check boxes and upload all the firmware together.
