Identifying the Problem

  1. Increase the head power to magnify the view of the pixel stuck on the plate artifact.
  2. Use a microscope to check for a line crossing the dots.
  3. If there is a line, it appears along the entire length of the image, from head to tail.

Implementing a Workaround Until the Head is Replaced

  1. Adjust the verbose level to 7.
  2. Run the bbs balance script, so you to see which pixel is causing the beam balance to fail.
  3. Run the bbs profile script.
  4. Chop the extra pixel.
Note: Make sure to order and replace the head as soon as possible.

Sending the Head for Repair

  1. Drain the collent from the head.
  2. Carefully pack and send the head for repair with all the relevant information, such as the bbs profile, the bbs balance, the head serial number, and a plate sample.
