Preventing problems when loading small plates onto a Lotem 800 II platesetter

Product

Kodak Lotem 800 II family platesetters

Error

  • Plate not loaded
  • Illegal gripper position

Symptoms

Small plates (approximately 360 mm / 14.2 in.) fail to load onto the drum and a series of error messages are generated.

Cause

A software problem prevents the gripper from rising high enough to grip the plate.

Solution

Important: This solution only applies to platesetters running Kodak Lotem Controller software version 3.80.16.

  1. Quit Lotem Controller.
  2. Open Microsoft Windows Explorer.
  3. Navigate to the LoadPlateFromDrumEntryToDrumTask.script file

    (C:\Lotem\Lotem800\Scripts\LoadingSystem\Automatic\AutoPlate\).

  4. Back up the script file by renaming it LoadPlateFromDrumEntryToDrumTask_Org.script.
  5. Download the latest script file:
    LoadPlateFromDrumEntryToDrumTask.script
    1. Right-click the link and select Save Target As.
    2. In the Save As dialog box, in the Save as type list, select All Files.

  6. Copy the downloaded script file to the AutoPlate folder

    (C:\Lotem\Lotem800\Scripts\LoadingSystem\Automatic\AutoPlate\).

  7. Start Lotem Controller.
