Min density and 50% dot area calibration

tr>

Product

  • ThermoFlex® Mid
  • ThermoFlex Narrow

Background

One of the common procedures to set up proper Flexo plate imaging quality is to check the 50% dot area.

Requirements

  • Densitometer to read transparency media
  • Lotem calibration target sample
  • Calibrated Lotem ThermoFlex
  • Flexo plate or thermal film

Procedure

  1. Perform the Lotem calibration Intensity Test in 100L/mm resolution.

  2. Using masking tape, remove the black layer in the corners of the measured plate so that you see the bare plate.

  3. Calibrate the densitometer so that the reading of the clean corner (without the masking tape) shows 0 density.
  4. Measure the density in the solid area. The density should be 0.07.
  5. Set the densitometer to read the dot area.
  6. Set the densitometer so that the reading of the solid area is 0.
  7. Measure the 50% dot area on the plate. If the reading of the 50% dot area is not 50%, change the drum speed, but make sure the intensity remains at 600mw.
