Testing the drum magnet strength on ThermoFlex Mid and Narrow

Product

Magnetic drum on:

  • ThermoFlex® Mid
  • ThermoFlex Narrow

Background

This procedure describes how to check the strength of the drum’s magnet. The strength is the force (Kg) or the pressure (Kg/cm2) that the magnet exerts on the plate.

Requirements

  • Steel-backed plate, 45 x 40 mm or 57 x 62 mm
  • Dynamometer

Procedure

  1. To enable the dynamometer to grasp the plate, in the center of the plate, cut two small holes 5 mm apart.
  2. Set the dynamometer to 0 and attach it to the plate.
  3. Hold the dynamometer at a 90° angle from the plate and pull gently, as shown in the Images section, following.
  4. Verify that the force is appropriate for the plate size according to the following table, with a tolerance of ±20%.
Plate size (mm) 45 x 40 57 x 62
Plate size (cm2) 18 35
Force (Kg) 4.5 10
Pressure (plate size divided by force—Kg/cm2) 4.5/18=0.25 10/35=0.285
  1. Repeat this test 2–3 times and average the results.
