Symptoms

The head and the plate collide when a new plate with a different thickness is loaded onto the ThermoFlex.

Cause

The collision is caused by a known software problem.

Solution

To avoid a head media collision:

1. Manually move the focus system to its home position before loading the new plate:
   • Open the Hardware dialog.
   • Navigate to the Home Position parameter:
     Expose > Focus System > Focus Motor > Home Position.
   • Select Home Position and then click Start.
2. Wait until the focus motor reaches home position and then load the new plate.
