Calibrating grippers on Magnus 200, Magnus 400, and Lotem 400 platesetters

Product

  • Kodak® Magnus™ 200 platesetter
  • Kodak Magnus 400 platesetter
  • Kodak Magnus 400 Quantum platesetter
  • Kodak Lotem® 400 platesetter
  • Kodak Lotem 400 Quantum platesetter
  • Kodak Lotem 400 Xpose™ platesetter

Background

When the platesetter fails to load or unload plates because the grippers are not operating properly, you need to calibrate the grippers.

During the gripper calibration process, you will:

  • Locate the drum position when the head gripper is above the actuator (loading position)
  • Locate the drum position when the head gripper is below the actuator (unloading position).

  • Lock the drum in place with the actuator
  • Read the drum encoder value

Procedure

Before you begin:

  1. On the platesetter, if applicable, remove the cheater to disconnect the motor interlock.
  2. Manually drag the tail gripper to the end of the drum track until it is parallel to the head gripper (preload position).

  3. Insert the cheater to reconnect the motor interlock.

This procedure includes instructions for:

Attention: To calibrate grippers, the drum index must be correctly adjusted.

Verifying service engineer mode

Before you can configure the grippers, you must verify that you are working in Service Engineer mode.

  1. In the Magnus or Lotem Controller software, on the Operations toolbar, select Utilities > Users.
  2. In the Define User window, in the User Type list, select Service Engineer.
  3. In the Password box, type the appropriate password and click OK.
    Note: The password is case-sensitive.
  4. On the Operations toolbar, select Utilities > Hardware.
  5. In the Hardware window, expand the Loading System branch and double-click the Loading System node.
  6. In the Loading System Dialog window, under Initializing, click Drum.
