Troubleshooting tool: Using simulation mode to resolve error messages related to the data path on Magnus 400

Simulation mode is a troubleshooting tool that allows you to extract information about the various data paths and related hardware components. This information helps to diagnose the cause of problems related to data flow and connections between the various electronic boards and drivers. By allowing you to zero in on the suspected data path and related components, Simulation mode helps to save time and costs.

In Simulation mode, you can isolate the suspected data path and run a simulated job.

This document describes how to use simulation mode, and describes the various simulation options.

Using Simulation Mode

To access Simulation mode:

  1. In Magnus Controller, in expert mode, in the Hardware tree, select Boards and double-click LIF Data Card.
  2. When the Lif Data Card dialog box appears, press <ctrl> <U>.
  3. In the expanded Lif Data Card dialog box, in the Exposure Mode area, select Simulation.
  4. Select the relevant option (described in detail in the following section).
    • Drum NOT rotate, lasers NOT activated: isolates the TSP data path
    • Drum rotate, lasers NOT activated: isolates the LMCE data path
    • Drum NOT rotate, lasers activated: isolates the LDA data path
    • Drum NOT rotate, lasers NOT activated, TIFF file create: isolates the TSP data path and debugs imaging
    • Drum NOT rotate, lasers NOT activated, plug loop: isolates the LIF board

    Note
: Do not click any other button, and do not close the Lif Data Card dialog box.
  5. From the workstation, resubmit the failed job.

Options in simulation mode

In Simulation mode, you can run an expose job in one of the following scenarios:
