Background

When the drum stops rotating on a frequent basis and vibration error messages appear, you need to adjust the position of the drum vibration sensors.

Procedure

Two identical vibration assemblies are connected to the optomech assembly; one at home position (HP) and one at end position (EP). Both assemblies use the same Drum Vibration Activated switch.

  1. In the Magnus 400 Controller software, open the Drum Vibration Activated switch.

  2. Move the carriage to home position (HP).
  3. With the Drum Vibration Activated switch on OFF, slide a 1.5-mm shim in the gap between the edge of the optomech assembly and the tip of the microswitch. If the vibration sensor is adjusted correctly, the Drum Vibration Activated switch changes to ON.
Note: The detector status changes to ON only when the drum rotates at 200 rpm or higher. To check the virbration sensor status, connect the DVM to the detector wires.

If the switch remains on OFF, loosen the two screws that secure the microswitch to the assembly and move the microswitch toward the edge of the optomech assembly until the Drum Vibration Activated switch changes to ON.

  4. With the Drum Vibration Activated switch on OFF, slide a 1.0-mm shim in the gap between the edge of the optomech assembly and the tip of the microswitch, the Drum Vibration Activated switch should remain OFF. If the Drum Vibration Activated switch changes to ON, move the microswitch toward the edge of the optomech assembly until the Drum Vibration Activated switch changes to OFF.
  5. Move the carriage to end position (EP) and repeat steps 3 and 4.
  6. After you finish adjusting the microswitch's position, tighten the two screws.

Test

  1. Close all doors.
  2. Open the detector in GUI.

  3. Accelerate the drum to the maximum speed according to the customer's plate and verify that the detector remains OFF.
