Releasing a stuck plate from the Magnus 800 punch

Product

Magnus 800

Symptoms

  • Plates are stuck in punch.
  • Punch rod fails to release plates
  • The following error messages are generated
    • The punching process failed
    • The Task Do punch task failed

Cause

  • Plates have double-loaded
  • Punch motor is not strong enough to complete its cycle of punching through two or more plates.

Solution

The solution is to change the punch’s direction of rotation. This causes the punch to rotate back to its previous home position, and then the plate can be easily pulled out from the punch.

  1. Use either the CFL dongle key, or enable the service mode from remote.
  2. In the hardware tree, locate the relevant Punch # switch dialog box:
Note: The punches are numbered from left (#1) to right (#10) in ascending order.

  3. Select the Rotate Back check box for the relevant punch, and then activate the punch motor:

  4. Inspect the platesetter for any damage and ensure that the punch entrance is clear.
How to avoid double-loading

The following tips should help to prevent plates from double-loading:

  • Verify that the plates in the cassette have been correctly loaded.
  • Verify that the air jet, located inside the autoloader, is working correctly.
  • Verify that the room humidity is in accordance with the recommended specifications.
  • Verify that the paper/metal detector is working correctly.
  • In the Registry, locate the Prompt when paper picker don't find paper parameter, and amend its value from 0 to 1.
The amended parameter notifies the operator (via an error message) when the paper picker fails to identify paper on top of the plate pile.
