Film loading problems

Applies to

  • ThermoFlex

Description

When film is dragged from the table surface onto the drum during a load sequence, bubbles or bulges may form. Since the media does not fully conform to the surface of the drum, focus errors may occur during imaging.

Causes

Film does not conform to drum surface

Solutions

  1. Check the media for flatness. Some batches of Volcano film have excessive waviness or stretch marks.
  2. As film media is wound onto the drum, the table drag-strip is activated to apply tension. In some cases, the localized tension from the vacuum holes can cause the formation of bubbles as the film is applied to the drum.

Disable the drag-strip feature by typing <<set al dsi 0>>. With the drag-strip disabled, test and compare the quality of the film loading. If necessary, a dust wand similar to those used in film stripping, may be used to remove/minimize the formation of bubbles.
