Description

• Disables the laser and stops drum movement when a panel is opened or the abort switch is pressed. During an unsafe condition (panel open or abort switch depressed), the MPE performs an orderly shutdown of drum and carriage motors. Pneumatic actuators do not change state. An abort remains posted until the button is released or the door panel is closed.
• Provides a signal to the MPE of a safe or unsafe condition through J19 on the backplane.
• Provides a current path for the exposure head shutter solenoid. For more information, see the exposure head service documentation.

All panels except for the power box panel are equipped with safety interlock switches to prevent operator injury. Opening any of these panels creates a break in the circuit, preventing the machine from operating. A misadjusted or faulty sensor creates the same condition.

Abort switch (10-1338A)

If pressed, causes a break in the interlock loop. To release an Abort button, turn it clockwise. Abort buttons for the ThermoFlex are located at either end under the flash cover (photo) and behind the front panel (photo). The abort buttons under the flash cover are accessible to an operator during loading and unloading when the flash cover is open.

Related Commands

The abort command forces an orderly shutdown of all recorder software tasks. The abort will clear when the shutdown sequence for all tasks is complete.
