Carriage Collides with Park Sensor

Error

The Carriage collides with the park position sensor.

Symptoms

The carriage will collide with the park sensor if it over-travels by more then a few millimeters past the away sensor. This collision can be caused by a failure of the away sensor, excessive carriage speed at the time of interrupting the away sensor, or a poorly adjusted away sensor tab on the carriage.

Solution

  • After a collision has occurred, the spring-loaded probes within the switch (16-4583) and the contact pad on the carriage (250-00011A) should be replaced as a precaution against malfunction in the future due to damaged components.
  • Confirm the operation of the optical sensor and the proper adjustment of the sensor tab on the carriage.
  • Confirm the firmware setting for the park position with respect to the home position. The carriage may be accelerating at a greater speed then is necessary.
