Drum Drive Belt noisy

Product

ThermoFlex Wide II

Machines affected

All

Error

Noise coming from the drum drive belt.

Cause

  • The tooth surface of the belt has hardened over time.
  • The belt is improperly tensioned - usually if the tension is too high.
  • The belt has been cut too wide or has a lump on the side - both of these instances cause the side of the belt to rub on the flanges of the drum motor pulley causing constant or repeating noises.

Solution

  • Replace the belt if it has hardened or become glazed.
  • Retension the drum drive belt to the correct tension.
  • Replace the belt if it is rubbing on the side of the pulley.

See the Drum Drive Maintenance document on the Procedures page for details on how to replace or tension the drum drive belt.
