Subscan Stitching Errors Not Corrected Using Firmware Corrections

Product

ThermoFlex Wide II

Machines affected

All

Error

Subscan stitching errors are not corrected using firmware corrections.

Cause

  • The carriage motor pulley is damaged.
  • The carriage flex-tube clamp is not secure.
  • The carriage belt is stretched.
  • Debris has collected on the carriage bearings or track.

Solution

  • If the carriage motor receives a blow during servicing of the pulley or motor shaft, it could be damaged. Replace the carriage motor pulley as needed.
  • Force the carriage toward the ball screw stepper motor to reveal if the carriage’s flex-tube clamp is loose. If so, reinsert the flex-tube and tighten the clamp screws.
  • If a carriage belt is highly over tensioned it can stretch. This will cause poor meshing of the belt teeth with the pulley’s teeth. Check if the belt is stretched by looking at the largest pulley and observing the engagement of the teeth over the total wrap. If any stretching has occurred, replace the carriage belt.
  • Debris on the carriage tracks or bearings result in poor rolling performance of the carriage. This in turn can cause artifacts on the image. If debris on the tracks is present, thoroughly clean and lubricate the tracks. If the problem remains, there may be debris in the carriage bearings and the carriage must be removed to clean the bearings.

See the Carriage Procedures documents on the Procedures page for details on carriage maintenance and repair.
