Using the Backup and Restore Tool on ThermoFlex Narrow Hybrid and Mid II Hybrid

Product

  • Kodak ThermoFlex Narrow Hybrid
  • ThermoFlex Mid II Hybrid

Operating system

Microsoft Windows XP

Background

This procedure describes how to use the Backup & Restore tool to backup and restore drive C or the entire hard disk.

The ThermoFlex computer hard disk is separated into three drives:

  • Drive C: Contains Windows operating system
  • Drive D: Contains temporary files
  • Drive E: Contains customer jobs and files

The Backup & Restore tool enables you to back up and restore drive C or to back up and restore the entire hard disk, including the customer’s jobs and files.

The Backup & Restore tool includes two backup and restore options:

  • Backup and restore drive C: For example, if you backed up drive C, if Windows stops responding, you can restore the information that was on drive C.
  • Backup and restore the entire hard disk: For example, if you backed up the entire disk, if the disk is damaged and you must replace it, you can restore the information from all three drives.

Important: You should back up all drives so that you can restore them if a problem occurs.

The difference between the Backup and Restore tool and the Lotem Backup & Rstore utility is that the tool creates an image DVD which contains any required licensing information and allows you to bypass the need to reinstall the license, while the utility backs up the registry, data base, and DDB factors.

Although the ThermoFlex Mid or Narrow Hybrid kit contains a DVD with an image of the Windows XP software that was created by the Symantec Norton Ghost software, the DVD does not include any updates made to the machine parameters because the DVD was created at the factory. In addition, using this disk requires you to reinstall the license.
