6026: Timeout Waiting for TPU Hall Sensor PW Measurement (Drum does not move)

Product

  Trendsetter NEWS

Machines affected

Machines manufactured from ~April 2001.

Component

Drum brake control board #10-4795A-B

Symptoms

  • Drum does not move at all when you type the drum init command.
  • The message "Time out waiting for TPU hall sensor PW" displays.

Cause and Solution

Bad batch of relays on the drum brake control board (#10-4795A-B).

To isolate the problem to the drum brake control board, bypass the drum brake board as follows (refer to the power box Schematic Drawing):

  1. Unplug cable #10-4797 from the J3 connector on the drum brake control board.
  2. Disconnect the other end of the cable at connector P2 (motor phase ouput) on the servo amp (#15-3466).
  3. Remove the drum motor cable from the J1 connector on the drum brake control board and plug it directly into the P2 connector on the servo amp.
  4. You have now removed the board from the circuit. Try a drum init command. If the drum responds, then the board is at fault. Order a new board and replace it. The customer can run the machine with the board bypassed (it has some safety functions) until the new board arrives.
