Plate Damage Caused by Warped Load Ramp Glass

Product

  • Trendsetter 400/800 Quantum
  • Trendsetter Spectrum
  • Trendsetter Autoloader

Machines affected

All

Component

ALE Board

Symptoms

Image corruption at the beginning of a plot, horizontal image shift, or a missing image - cause unknown. ANY data-related problem CAN be attributed to this problem. It is mainly seen on 3rd party RIP's and can also result in strange error messages such as the Brisque reporting "TSP do not fetch data"

Cause

Buffer ready signal on the ALE

Solution

Instructions for cutting the trace on the ALE board

If you cut the trace, PLEASE be sure to mark "TRACE CUT" on the board with a sharpie or other felt-tipped marker. Logistics will need to know that this board has been reworked if it is returned since modified boards will NOT work in a scanner. Note that this problem WILL be resolved in the next version of product firmware, so once these versions are released and installed, trace cutting will no longer be necessary.

  • Base TS - next release (2.52) due mid Nov. will fix this problem with the inclusion of the updated Xilinx
  • TS Autoloader (TS400 and TS800 Quantum Autoloader) - next release 1.50 due by the end of this year will solve this problem
  • Spectrum - does not have this fix in 1.51 (current release). 1.60 is due to release in the early part of next year (Feb)
  • Thermoflex - due to release near the end of this year (end of Nov/early Dec) and will include up-to-date Xilinx
  • TS NEWS - release 1.14 solves this problem
  • VLF Platesetter - not applicable. Electrical hardware architecture is different from the trendsetter machine architecture
