Component

Carriage driver board, carriage driver board power cable

Error

  • 38171 MPC: Raster image data received from workstation was possibly corrupted. Check plate for artifacts.
  • -46 (low level firmware error)

Symptoms

  • Output device spontaneously resets during plotting
  • CRC check errors such as #38171 or low-level firmware errors such as #-46.
  • Digital I/O errors

Cause

FCO CA00752 introduced a new carriage driver board (part number 503C01525B) for various Creo output devices. This board has a switching power supply that generates a high level of electrical noise, which is fed into the MCE board via carriage driver board power cable 220-00061A.

Solution

Perform FCO CA05160: Remove power cable 220-0061A and install power cable 220-00163B, connecting the carriage driver board directly to the carriage power supply (PS2).
