Using Windiff.exe to Compare NVS Dump Files

To download the following files, right click on the link and select Save Target As (or Save Link As). Save all three files to the same directory.

Windiff.exe is a program that compares two files and displays any differences between them. This is useful for comparing two nvs dump files in cases where you suspect that a parameter has been changed or corrupted. Click here to view a screen capture of the Windiff main window. (Note: If you want to print this image, use landscape orienation so the sides of the image do not get cut off.)

Two files are being compared in this example: c144dmp.txt and c149dmp.txt. Notice the red and yellow stripes in the main window. These stripes indicate that the highlighted sections in the two files are different, but that they correspond in the sense that the parts before and after the section match between the files.
