Component

Unload table stepper motor cable (10-4855)

Problem

The pins in the IDC connector at the motor side of cable 10-4855A-A make poor contact, causing the cable connector to heat up and melt. This results in erratic and noisy movement from the unload cups, and can also cause damage to the stepper motor.

This problem has been noticed mostly on high-usage machines such as the Trendsetter News MCE devices.

Solution

Replace unload table stepper motor cable with the latest version: 10-4855B-A. In this version, the contact pins in the IDC connector have been changed from low force to high force pins.

Note: There should be very few, if any, cables with part numbers 10-4855A-B or 10-4855A-C in existence, but if you find one, note that it already has the same improved connector as 10-4855B-A, and does not need to be replaced.

Parts needed

New unload table motor cable: 10-4855B-A

Procedure

  1. Locate the unload table stepper motor.

  2. Disconnect the IDC connector of the previously installed cable from the stepper motor.

  3. Disconnect the other end of the old cable from the GENINE board in the power box.

  4. Remove old cable.
  5. Connect new cable (10-4855B-A) to unload table stepper motor.
  6. Route the new cable through same path as the old cable and connect the other end to the GENINE board in the power box.

  7. Mark the appropriate box on the ECO 100 Label:
#14 for MCE Trendsetter AL, CL
    #18 for MCE Trendsetter NEWS
