Priority = Next Failure
Reason = Design
Release date = Dec 8, 2000

Machines affected

Machines that do not have #26 on the 100 label

Component

Picker
Problem
  • plates are sticking together
  • need the ability to load more plates
  • thin plates (0.006” to 0.008”) are falling off the picker - too much air coming from the air knives while picking
Solution(s)
  • redesign the plate ledge, the plate ledge teeth, and the air jet deflector bracket
  • change the tubing as well
Parts needed Kit #05-0185 BOM for the plate ledge
Kit #05-0192 to replace tubing to the air knives
Tools needed N/A
Procedure

Plate Ledge (Parts in Kit #05-0185)
No panels need to be removed.

  1. Move [RAMP IN], [PICKER UP].
  2. Put one plate in bay, mark the top of plate onto the load table with pencil.
  3. Disconnect the reed switch on the home side of the plate ledge. Disconnect (or cut close to the plate ledge) all tubing from the plate ledge (2 on away side and 1 on home side). Remove all M3*10 screws.
  4. Loosen the 2 door bumpers.
  5. Take the plate ledge off. Replace with new plate ledge #50-2154A using the new M3*10 screws. See Plate Ledge Drawing. Make sure the plate is aligned with the pencil mark.
  6. Tighten the 2 bumpers. Reconnect the reed switch. Reconnect one tube on the home side and 2 on the away side.
  7. Check that plate drop is 2mm.

Tubing to the Air Knives (Parts in Kit #05-0192)
This modification should reduce the airflow from 90psi to 40psi.

  1. The manifold on the home side provides air to the load air knives. The red polyurethane tube splits in two to provide air at each side of the plate ledge. After the manifold and before it splits, cut the tube (#56-3215 8mm OD (5/16”).
  2. Assemble as follows
    • reducer #55-0537
    • 0.05m of #56-1043
    • second reducer #55-1131
    • 0.05m of #56-1038
    • third reducer #55-1131
    • 0.05m of #56-1043
    • last reducer #55-0537
Action required Mark as change #26 on the 100 label.
