The plate clamp magnets, when handled, present a low risk of disrupting the operation of a cardiac pacemaker. The normal operation of a Creo output device does not pose a health risk to anyone with a pacemaker, but operators and service personnel may be required occasionally to remove and reposition the clamps on the drum. At up to 7cm from the magnet, a pacemaker could be disrupted by the magnetic field.
Since February 2000, a warning label has been installed on all magnet assemblies. Machines in the field have not been retrofitted with the label as the risk is very low.
