Drum: Plate not loaded correctly on drum, obstruction detected below LEC actuator (error number 6027)

Applies to

  • VLF Platesetter
  • VLF Trendsetter
  • Trendsetter 3244
  • Trendsetter 3230 (TS4 Version)
  • Platesetter 3244

Description

Machine reports above error message, but no plate flyoff is observed. This indicates that the flyoff beam has been interrupted, possibly by loss of power to the emitter or system alignment has been disturbed.

Causes

Solutions

Plate flyoff sensor is misadjusted

Adjust the plate flyoff sensor:

Check that the beam hits the detector squarely in the center of the sensing area.

Signal from sensor is not being read

If the output device is fitted with a laser sensor, check that the system is reading the sensor signal by using the drum command (drum module version 1.07 or later):
drum-flyoff laser sensed yes/no

Improperly set NVS parameters

Make sure that the NVS parameters sys tstate and sys tstatus are at their default values.

Problem with power cable:

Symptoms (laser sensor):

  • The laser receiver's power indicator (green light) is not on
  • The laser emitter's power indicator (green light) is not on

Instability problems

Check the system for stability when drum starts and stops. Refer to the Laser Flyoff Adjustment Procedure(Trendsetter VLF Laser Plate Fly-off Detector Installation or VLF Platesetter Laser Plate Fly-off Detector Installation).

Laser beam obstruction

Symptom (laser sensor):

The laser receiver's signal indicator (yellow light) is not on or flickering:

Fix (laser sensor):

Check for laser beam obstructions (possibly the belt guard)
Check that the beam hits the detector squarely in the center of the sensing area.

Wrong voltage

Symptom (laser sensor):

The laser emitter's power indicator (green light) is not on

Fix (laser sensor):

Check the voltage at the power cable inputs:

  • VLF Platesetter: 24 volts at the abort switch junction
  • VLF Trendsetter: 12 volts at backplane connection

Abort switch has been tripped (laser sensor)

Symptom (laser sensor):

The laser emitter's power indicator (green light) is not on

Fix

On the VLF Platesetter, check that the abort switch at the front doors has not been tripped.

Door switch magnets not working

Symptom (laser sensor):

The laser emitter's power indicator (green light) is not on

Fix

Check that the door switch magnets are working using the reed switch tester (10-3622A).

Notes

FOR CREO SERVICE PERSONNEL ONLY:

The flyoff laser emitter is interlocked with the front door sensor loop. To inspect the flyoff detector system, the door reed switches need to be defeated with magnets. The command mask door creo does not work. Be sure to remove magnets when finished.
