Description |
The difference between the velocity measured by the tach encoder and that measured by the drum motor hall effect sensors is too high. |
Causes |
Solutions |
Phone fix: Increase set drum
maxdiff to 1000 from the default 200. This sets the acceptable
difference between the velocity reported by the motor hall sensors
and the drum encoder
Ensure proper grounding of the drum drive motor to the frame. NOTE: See also Understanding Dependancies of Hall Sensors and Encoder. Dirty encoder diskPhone fix: Have operator inspect encoder disc for foreign objects or dirt. Clean the encoder disk. Dirty encoder blockBlow off inside (laser diode) of the encoder block using a can of compressed air with a straw nozzle. Damaged CablePhone fix: If it's possible to do a drum spin 60, have a technician on site move the whole card cage frame open, and then closed. See if bending the cables causes the error. Site visit: Check the encoder cable and / or the 14 strand ribbon cable from J6 of the backplane to J2 of the drum drive amp. Replace if necessary. Faulty or misaligned encoder electronicsSymptoms & Verification: May also be accompanied by other errors such as: "Velocity error -drum rotation blocked or PID gain settings wrong", "Timeout on velocity settling", "Timeout on velocity acceleration." Cleaning the encoder disk does not improve situation. Phone fix: None Site visit: Check the encoder. Align the encoder. Replace faulty encoder if necessary. Drum NoisyIf the servo is noisier than usual when performing a drum spin 50, see Drum spin is noisy. Drum speed not constantPhone fix: If the drum speed appears to waver, the NVS PID gain settings may be wrong or corrupt. Do not change from the settings as shipped (VLF Platesetter, Platesetter 3244, Trendsetter 3244, VLF Trendsetter) without advice from Creo Engineering. Perform a Drum torque test if it can be done safely. (i.e. the drum is balanced, plates are off, TEC magnets off, door closed.) |
