Description 

Cause 

The amount of memory required on the DPE board depends on the engine size and the head. If the board doesn't have enough memory, image artifacts may occur.

Solution

1. Determine how much memory is on the DPE board:
   list version

   Look for this line: " DPE hardware version: "

NOTE: The DPE DRAM Type is meaningless with a FDPE.

2. Determine how much memory is needed using the following tables.

Green Head (DPE board 10-0734)

Thermal Head (DPE board 10-3146)

3. Order and install more memory if required. Each board requires three memory modules.

Notes 

• The default memory on the thermal DPE board is three 4-MB modules. The default memory on the green DPE board is three 8-MB modules.
• On thermal devices, the DPE board (10-3146) is being replaced by the FDPE board (10-3672A).
• You cannot use a 16-MB memory module to replace a 8-MB module. However, you can use an 8-MB module in place of a 4-MB module.
• With a 3200 dpi head, the image artifact starts at around 40".
• If a green DPE board (10-0734) is used in a thermal system, the rules of memory size apply as if it were a thermal DPE board (10-3146).
