Plate length measured incorrectly

Products

Trendsetter VLF, Trendsetter VLF AL

Component

Load/unload table

Symptoms

The plate length measurement is not accurate and varies for the same 'al stl' value.

Cause

The table is not correctly aligned causing the plate to “dance" up and down on the table.
Example 1 - a well aligned table: When the table is up, it is on the drum surface's tangent plane. The plate is close to the table surface as shown by the green area in the diagram below. Because the green area is relatively small for the plate to dance, the the plate measurements are accurate.
With a 813 mm plate, most measurements are 813 mm with and occasional 812 mm. With a 1148 mm plate, the measurement is accurately 1148 mm.

Example 2 - a badly aligned table: When the table is up, it is off from the drum surface's tangent plane - see the diagram below. During plate loading, the plate can easily dance up and down on the table because there is adequate room for the movement.
With this device, a 800 mm plate measures anywhere from 799 mm to 802 mm. For the same ‘al stl’ value, a 1148 mm plate measures anywhere from 1145 mm to 1152 mm.

Solution

Align the load/unload table to the drum.
