A Trendsetter VLF 5880 may be modified to output 59 inch Kodak plates, if required by the customer. The procedure below will make the machine “think” that it is outputting a 58 inch plate while it is actually outputting a 59 inch plate.
Mark the TEC park position on the drum.
Remove the TEC park bars from the drum.
Change the SYS MAXIS parameter from 57.46 to 58.46.
Change MODE 1 MIS from 137904 to 140304.
Change AL TPS from 1 to 0.
Create a Page Setup called “Kodak 59 IR”.
Install the Page Feature 59inch_plate.ps This file was created by Riz Mawji for 59” x 80” plates.
Create a calibration curve called “175line +15" for use with the Kodak 59 IR page setup. This will offset an overall 15% dot gain on a 78 inch press.
Create a hot spool folder called “Kodak 59” which uses the Kodak 59 IR page setup. The customer can drop 59 inch jobs into this folder.
Create a spool folder called “Kodak 59 Hold” into which the customer can drop 59 inch jobs that aren’t going to be run immediately.
Change the 59 inch dimension to 58 inches in the customer’s Kodak 59 inch plate definitions.
