Cassette unlocks from chariot when fully extended

Product

Trendsetter VLF AL

Component

MCU Cassette

Symptoms

When the operator pulls the cassette out for loading, the lights on the chariot behave differently. The stop light and in arrow lights toggle and the sound of the chariot latch unlocking can be heard. The lights also flicker as they do at the end of the load cycle. This is a dangerous situation because the cassette can easily drop off the chariot and it may cause injury of damage.

Cause

Faulty cassette sensor switch inside the MCU.
If the switch is faulty, or the wire between the switch and the MCU Genine breaks, the cassette will be sensed inside the MCU all the time. Earlier versions of firmware would unlock the cassette from the chariot when it encountered this situation, thinking that the cassette was already pushed back into the MCU.

Solution

Use the command cass when the cassette is all the way out on the chariot. Under the heading Plate cassette sensors, check the status of the cassette being loaded. The status should be Offline and Not detected by sensors. If the status says Detected by sensors then there is a problem with the cassette switch inside the MCU, the wire, or the genine. The switch should be replaced.
