Incorrect Device Clipping settings after upgrading to–or a clean installation of–Print Console 1.0.1

Applies to

  • Upgrading to Print Console 1.0.1 from any previous build
  • Clean install of Print Console 1.0.1

Problem

After upgrading to (or a clean installation of) Print Console 1.0.1, incorrect Device Clipping values are stored in the registry (or more accurately, the correct values are stored in incorrect registry keys). The problem can appear as a 5/16" (300 mil) image shift.

Workaround

There are 2 possible workarounds for this problem. The first is a manual process:
  1. After upgrading or installing Print Console, enable the Service menu, choose the Configure System option, and switch to the Device Clipping tab of the Configure System dialog box.
  2. Set the “Clip for leading edge clamps” field to 300 mils for Spectrum devices (ThermoFlex settings will also be posted here as soon as they are available).
  3. Set the “Clip for trailing edge clamps” field to 500 mils for Spectrum devices (ThermoFlex settings will also be posted here as soon as they are available).
  4. Click the Apply button.
  5. Switch to the Margins tab of the Configure System dialog box and select the Halftone Proof media. Ensure that the all of the edge fields are set to zero.
  6. For every other media, ensure that the “Leading edge” field is set to the value in step #2, the “Trailing edge” field is set to the value in step #3, and the “Home edge” and “Away edge” fields are set to zero.

The second workaround for this is more automatic. Download the appropriate registry fix file and run it on the Print Console workstation to automatically configure Print Console as you would in the manual procedure above.

Permanent Fix

This problem will be corrected in the next release of Print Console.
