Endless Plot (TIFF Downloader)

Applies to |
To date this problem has only been detected in the testing lab with Print Console 1.0.x on the new Dell platform with a card cage. This problem could potentially occur on any platform running Print Console version 1.0., 1.0.1, 1.0.2, 1.0.3 (or v1.1, which is a Beta version of Print Console built exclusively for the TS 400 [previously called TS74]). |
Problem |
After sending a job to the device, the job images to 100% but the device does not unload the media. It remains in imaging mode at 100% until you manually cancel the job and reset the device. |
Background |
Although it could be caused by a number of
factors, in this case the problem might be caused by a bug in TIFF
Downloader. Essentially, when Print Console sends job information
through the SCSI, it sends it in messages or packages of 64K each.
When all the information has been sent, Print Console sends a final
512K message, which tells the device that there is no more
information in this job. If this does not get through, the machine
does not stop.
|
Workaround |
Manually cancel the job. |
Permanent Fix |
To fix this problem on an Intel platform, apply the Print Console 1.0.4.1 patch as follows:
There is currently no permanent fix for Alpha platforms. |
