Overriding Default Print Setup Media Size on Manual Punch Jobs

  checkbox.gif (459 bytes)  Tested   uncheckbox.gif (229 bytes)  Not Tested

Applies to

  • Print Console 2.0 (could be fixed in 2.1) and either a Trendsetter AL or a VLF Trendsetter AL.

Problem

Unable to manually punch a plate that is a different size than the media size in the default Print Setup.

Background

When submitting a Manual Punch job, Print Console sends the job as an auto-approved test plot using the default print setup. The default print setup contains a default media size that may be different from the size of the media you want to punch. Since the job is auto-approved, you do not have a chance to change the media size if necessary.

Workaround

If you need to change the media size before submitting a manual punch job, do the following:
  1. Take the Queue offline.
  2. Select the Manual Punch option from the Job menu.
The Manual Punch job displays at the top of the Pending queue.
  3. Right-click to display the Job Properties box, and select the "Choose media just before imaging" option.
  4. Put the Queue back online.
  5. When Print Console prompts you, select the appropriate Media Size and press OK.
  6. Manually load the media into the device as prompted by Print Console.

Permanent Fix

No permanent fix at this time. It may be fixed in Print Console 2.1.
