Why Can't I Drive a Platesetter (with a Green Head) with Print Console 2.x?

Product

Print Console 2.x, Prinergy 2.0, PCS 2.0, and any device with a Green head (usually Platesetters).

Operating system

Windows NT

Symptoms

Print Console 2.x cannot drive devices with Green heads.

Cause

Print Console 2.x can drive almost all Trendsetters and Platesetters. However, Print Console cannot drive any device that uses a Green head. These Green heads—heads that use Green Light Imaging using a frequency doubled YAG laser at 1200, 1600 and 2400 dpi in low resolution—are no longer in production and currently exist in only a few sites in the field (usually in Platesetters). If these sites want to use Prinergy 2.0, then they must use the CRI implementation of Platesetter Console 2.0 as their device control software.

Solution

To use Prinergy 2.0 with a device that has a Green head, you must use the PCS 2.0 implementation of CRI. Order this package from Workflow Production. For more information, refer to PCS 2.0.
