Transformed Job Fails in RIP (TIFF Downloader)

Product

  • Print Console 2.0 (2.0.1.24)
  • TIFF Downloader

Platform

Intel

Operating system

Windows NT, Windows 2000

Symptoms

Jobs requiring transformation fail in RIP, which in this case is the TIFF Downloader. The distinguishing symptom of this particular RIP failure, though, appears in the History pane of the Print Console Message screen where the TIFF Downloader provides status messages. In this case, the TIFF Downloader provides only one or two status reports when writing the file to the buffer...

  • Creo TIFF Downloader 67 percent complete writing stripped file to temporary tiled file for transforming
  • Creo TIFF Downloader 100 percent complete writing stripped file to temporary tiled file for transforming

...and then the file fails.

The TIFF Downloader usually reports the percentage at smaller increments. For example...

  • Creo TIFF Downloader 13 percent complete writing stripped file to temporary tiled file for transforming
  • Creo TIFF Downloader 23 percent complete writing stripped file to temporary tiled file for transforming
  • Creo TIFF Downloader 35 percent complete writing stripped file to temporary tiled file for transforming

...and so on until the file is written to the buffer completely (100%).

Cause

When you transform a file, the TIFF Downloader has to write the file to a buffer. When this buffer is too small, the job may fail.

Solution

To fix this problem, increase the size of the input buffer:

  1. Open the Begin.inf file located in the PrintConsole\Bin directory.
  2. Add “/tib70” to the TIFF Downloader line as shown here:
    “tiffdownloader /testscsi /tib70” /unique /noconsole /min /exit 0 /restartdelay 10
  3. Save and close the file.
