Illegal Characters in File Name Cause Error Messages in Print Console

Product

  • Print Console 1.0, 2.0, 2.1 (up to 2.1.1 build 10)
  • Brisque Screen2Go

Platform

Intel

Operating system

Windows 2000

Error

“Waiting for Image Parameters” or
“Waiting for SCSI data”

Symptoms

Print Console tells the device to load the plate and detect the edge, but then hangs with the “Waiting for Image Parameters” or “Waiting for SCSI data” error message.

Cause

Print Console does not accept file names that contain the % character followed by certain other characters. A file name that uses any one of the following characters after the % causes Print Console to hang:

% 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 0 c C d i o u x X e E f g G n p s S

Since Brisque Screen2Go automatically adds the % character to all spot colors, be sure not to start a file name with any of the above characters.

Solution

Remove the % character from the file name. To avoid the problem in the future, do not start any file names with one of the above characters, especially if you are using Screen2Go.

Permanent fix: upgrade to Print Console 2.1.1 build 24 SP1 or higher.
