Print Console JTP Won’t Run with Print Console 2.1 and Prinergy Versions 2.0.6 and Earlier

Product

  • Print Console 2.1
  • Prinergy 2.0.6 and earlier

Platform

Intel

Operating system

Windows 2000

Error

When you start up Prinergy, the following messages appear in succession:

  • The ordinal 6567 could not be located in the dynamic link library MFC42u.dll.
  • \Prinergy\AdobeExtreme\bin\PGenDev2E.exe could not find all PrintConsoleGDAPI.dll specified by the key GDAPI_DLLName in the engine config file

In the Prinergy diagnostic log viewer:

  • PGenDev2E GDEN_CGDOutputEngine.cpp(1132): Shutting down, unable to laod Dll

Symptoms

Although you can create a Print Console JTP in Prinergy, it will not run. In Print Console, Prinergy does not display in the RIP status dialog box.

Cause

Prinergy, versions 2.0.6 and earlier, has a problem with a DLL. The problem DLL (mfc42u.dll) is located in two places: in \adobeextreme\bin and in \creoaraxi\bin. The version in \creoaraxi\bin is the correct version. The version in \adobeextreme\bin is an older version, which causes the Print Console JTP to fail to load PrintConsoleGdapi.dll.

Solution

If you want to install Print Console 2.1 with a Prinergy system running 2.0.6 or earlier, manually replace the old mfc42u.dll in the \adobeextreme\bin directory with the mfc42u.dll in the \creoaraxi\bin directory.

Otherwise, upgrade to Prinergy 2.0.7 or later.
