Error |
Print Console log file showing the error | ||
Symptoms |
After the device finishes imaging and has unloaded the media, Print Console shuts down (without any error message) and re-starts. This happens intermittently at first, but gets progressively worse. |
Cause |
The problem has appeared only at sites that upgraded their Data General Aviion 2700 and 3700 servers from Windows NT 4 (running Print Console 1.0 and Prinergy 1.0) to Windows 2000 (running Print Console 2.0 and Prinergy 2.0). Apparently, the onboard graphics chip on the DG motherboard cannot handle the Print Console graphics. |

Solution |
Add an additional PCI Graphics card with the appropriate video driver for Windows 2000. Any $40.00 card with 16MB of onboard memory, such as the ATI Xpert 128-bit or the Matrox Mystique, works well. The key is to get the graphics processing off the CPU. |
