Print Console Sometimes Causing Subscan Shifts on Trendsetter NEWS Devices

Product

  • Print Console 3.x
  • Trendsetter NEWS MCE devices (SN contains "NM") with CR 3.0 or earlier

Operating system

  • Windows 2000

Symptoms

Subscan shifts, random towards home or away.

Cause

Can be caused by the Print Console setting "Edge Detect When Required". On NEWS 200 and NEWS 150 devices, this is an option on the Device menu. On other NEWS devices it is set in the registry.

Solution

"Edge Detect When Required" should never be used. It is not a supported feature. NEWS devices should be set to "Edge Detect Always".
  • If you are working on a NEWS 200 or a NEWS 150 device, check the Device menu to see if "Edge Detect When Required" is selected. If it is, change the selection to "Edge Detect Always".
  • If you are working on a NEWS device other than a NEWS 200 or NEWS 150, check the registry setting for EdgeDetectMode: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Creo\PrintConsole\V2.0\DeviceConfig\EdgeDetectMode. It should be set to 1 (edge detect always).
