Unable to communicate with the device

Symptoms

Print Console is unable to communicate with the device.

Cause

Print Console 2.x uses Service Host as an RCON packet relay. 

In Service Shell 2.4 and earlier the RCON address of the MPE or MCE device was set in creo_deviceinfo.ini. 

Service Shell 2.5 does not install a default creo_deviceinfo.ini, so an upgrade of Service Host from 2.4xx to 2.5xx on a site using Print Console 2.x.x breaks the Print Console connection to the device.

Solution

1. Configure Service Host using the Service Host configuration wizard.
2. Open ServiceShell\bin\creo_deviceinfo.ini and add rconaddress=1.0.0 to the MPE or MCE section (depending on what kind of device it is).
3. Restart Service Host.
