Symptoms |
|
The GMCE board is stuck in boot mode. There is no connectivity with the device.
|
|
Cause |
|
The firewall in Windows XP Service Pack 2 is blocking the Kodak Bootp Server. There is no Bootp communication for the GMCE firmware.
|
|
Solution |
|
You have two options:
- Disable the firewall in Windows XP Service Pack 2.
- Configure the firewall with exceptions that enable operation of the Kodak Bootp Server.
The full procedure (including screen captures) for setting up firewall exceptions is in the GMCE Firmware Release Notes, Appendix F.
This document is available in the controlled release package.
- From the Windows Start menu, select Settings > Control Panel > Windows Firewall.
- Select the Advanced tab.
- Select the Local Area Connection that corresponds to the Gigabit Ethernet LAN card that is connected to the GMCE board, and click Settings.
- Click Add to add service settings for firewall exceptions.
- Enter this information:
- Description of service: Kodak Bootp Server
- Name or IP address of the computer hosting this service on your network: the Windows network name of the workstation
- External Port number for this service: 67
- port type: UDP
- Internal Port number for this service: 67
- Click OK.
- In the Advanced Settings dialog box, click Add again to add service settings for a firewall exception for the Kodak Bootp NVS File download service.
- Enter this information:
- Description of service: Kodak Bootp NVS
- Name or IP address of the computer hosting this service on your network: the Windows network name of the workstation
- External Port number for this service: 3688
- port type: TCP
- Internal Port number for this service: 3688
- Click OK three times to finish the Windows firewall configuration process.
