Problem updating Print Console 4 with more than 500 plates

Product

  Print Console 4

Machines affected

Trendsetter NEWS GMCE devices connected to preloaders

Symptoms

When an operator attempts to update Print Console 4 with the number of plates loaded, Print Console does not accept any value over 500.

Cause

If a Trendsetter NEWS device is set up to use a third-party preloader, the preloader can function as a large bay for the device (if the preloader option is enabled) or the Trendsetter device can pick plates from either its own bay or from the preloader (if the dual bay option is enabled). Depending on the option selected and the type of plates used, as many as 600 plates can be loaded into the system. Print Console, however, has been hard-coded with a maximum plate quantity of 500.

Solution

Use this procedure to change the maximum plate quantity value from 500 to 600:

  1. Shut down Print Console.
  2. On the drive where Print Console is installed, navigate to Creo > PrintConsole4 > data.
  3. In the Fireball.Preferences.xml file, find <MaxCassetteMediaQuantity>500</MaxCassetteMediaQuantity>.
  4. Change 500 to 600 and save the file.
  5. Restart Print Console.
