Lionel board inside the UDRC-LC does not communicate with the device

Product

  • Trendsetter 400/800
  • Trendsetter AL
  • Trendsetter Spectrum

Component

UDRC-LC (chemistry-free option)

Symptoms

The device is unable to communicate with the UDRC-LC through the Lionel board.

Solution

  1. Connect a laptop computer directly to the Lionel board. Make sure that you take the UDRC backpack off first.
  2. Check that the Lionel board is in binary mode.

If it is in binary mode:
    • The characters displaying on the screen will be unreadable.
    • Press the reset key on the Lionel board. The screen message should be "Override binary mode? y/n".
    • Select n, then continue with Step 3 below.

If it is in ASCII mode:
    • The screen will show the prompt Lionel>>
    • Press the reset key on the Lionel board. No message will appear.
    • In order to enter commands, you must type a password within about 5 seconds. To get out of this mode and into binary mode, enter the password sat remote local.
    • Continue with Step 3 below.

  3. Set and save all NVS firmware parameters related to the UDRC-LC.
  4. Reset the device by turning the main power switch off. (Don't just type reset on the command line.)

If the problem persists, try the following:

  1. Change to debris option 5, but watch for plate lifting (set media x dopt 5)
  2. Change the NVS parameters
    • set debris nfc 2052
    • set debris nfe 2087

  3. Note:  When you change the nfc and nfe values, you must double check that all the vacuum collection and sensor hoses are properly connected throughout the system. In particular, check that the sensor hoses coming from the UDRC backpack are firmly seated into the UDRC bulkhead one-touch fittings. Even if these one-touch fittings appear to be connected, they may not be seated properly. Push hard!
