Error message 17657: DTD reset asserted

Applies to

Devices with a Thermal 1.0 or 1.7 head

Tests & Checks

For more information on the status flags, type the command head mask. If under the head status flags you see !1 DTD reset asserted, this indicates that the DTD or WLC board is in reset mode.

Note: The DTD board is the write laser diode power board in TH1.0 heads. The WLC board performs the same functions for TH1.7 heads.

Causes

  • Head type is incompatible with the device configuration, that is, a P33 head in a Quantum device or a P22 head in a Performance model.

(Typically, this would only occur during a head replacement or a change of device configuration.)

  • 24V or 48V power supply is not present at the power board.
  • Power is not reaching the board due to a safety loop interruption.
  • There is a fault on the power board.

Solutions

Check the power supply and safety loop circuit:

  1. Reset the device and head to see if the error can be cleared.
  2. Check the head type using the part number and the configuration records.

You will need to check the device configuration to ensure that it is compatible with the head type.

  3. Check the two laser power supplies: one is switched with the write laser and the other is on with the device power.
  4. Power can be checked at the connector on the head. See the pinout diagram in the TH1.7 Head Connectors document.

  5. Check the safety loop circuit.
See the relevant device schematics and drawings.
  6. If the problem is not resolved, consult with a Thermal Specialist.
