- Turn the laser on. Type
>>laser on (MCE and MPE). Confirm that it is actually on: type >>laser (MCE and MPE).
>> laser
*** State message: Head command (72)
Thermal head type: 40W
Write laser state: On
Laser mode: closed-loop,(original mode)
Monitor : Matched media 1 with HDM 1
Setpoint power: 9.25 W
Power: 9.24 W
Current: 23.55 A
Diode temp: 24.9 C
Laser on time: 789.40 hours
The laser should be able to reach the setpoint (within about 0.20W). If it can not, error 17693 will display.
- Obtain a reading from the shutter sensor: type
>>head power sum (MCEand MPE)
>> head power sum
*** State message: Head command (96)
Sum from all channels: 1.917W
Leakage power: 0.712W
- If the actual laser value (
Power) is significantly different from the setpoint value (Setpoint power), then you have a faulty shutter sensor that must be repalced. Complete the following:
- The device can temporarily operate with stroke calibration disabled. Type:
- MPE:
>>set sys tstk 0
- MCE:
set ehi tstk 0
The customer can resume production until the shutter is replaced.
- Order the shutter replacement kit, part number 05-0165, and download the procedure: Thermal 1/1.7 Shutter Sensor Replacement Procedure.
- Once the shutter has been replaced, re-enable the automatic stroke calibration. Type:
- MPE:
>>set sys tstk 540
- MCE:
>>set ehi tstk 540
Note: In some cases, repalcing the shutter sensor may not fix the problem, therefore a replacement head should always be shipped to site along with the shutter kit. Only use the replacement head if the shutter kit does not solve the problem.
